During the week of training for principals at the national level, the head of the National Directorate of Foreign Language Teaching, Ms. Davina Cole, in coordination with her team of supervisors and English coordinators, as well as regional trainers, developed training sessions for school principals nationwide. The goal was to share and strengthen the implementation of the New English Curriculum Based on Competency Standards.
These training allowed the directors to learn in detail about the components of the New Curriculum and the new planning format, designed to guide the teaching-learning process of English language instruction more effectively. Likewise, each director received a printed copy of the new program, which will facilitate its monitoring and adequate implementation in the educational centers under their management.
The role of principals is fundamental in this process, since they are responsible for leading the implementation of the curriculum in their educational communities, ensuring the proper use of planning, promoting teacher accompaniment, and ensuring that the program is developed in accordance with the standards established by the Ministry of Education.
During the training, the directors learned that, as part of the implementation process, MEDUCA English teachers have specialized virtual courses on the new English program available on the “Portal Educativo”, which provide a solid foundation for understanding the new curriculum, its methodological approaches, and the use of planning format. This teacher training will be consolidated and deepened during the summer institute, strengthening pedagogical practices, and enabling the practical application of the program in the classroom.
